Why is the veneer easy to get damp after drying?

African veneer bosses often ask me, why is the veneer that is baked in a dryer so damp? To answer this question, there are two main reasons:

1. Water absorption of wood itself

Wood has a certain range of moisture content, which is adjusted with changes in ambient temperature and humidity. Even after drying, some moisture will still remain in the wood. If the humidity in the storage environment is high, the wood will absorb the surrounding moisture, causing the moisture content to rise, resulting in moisture return.

2. Incomplete drying or inappropriate storage conditions

The drying process of the wood board and the temperature after drying are very critical. If the wood is not dried thoroughly, the residual moisture will easily cause dampness. In addition, if the storage environment temperature and humidity are not suitable or proper moisture-proof measures are not taken, it is easy to cause the wood to return to moisture.

Therefore, in order to prevent the wood from getting damp, the temperature, humidity and other parameters after drying the veneer should be well grasped to ensure thorough drying.
